CF2D's Top 5 and Non Top 5 Questions

CollegeFootball2Day's Top 5 and Non Top 5 Spring Football Questions

Spring football has begun for some programs, and the rest will start over the next few weeks. Obviously, there are some real questions out there for some programs this spring. Some of those questions will get cleared up this spring, while others will remain open heading into the summer months. CollegeFoootball2Day has its own questions, top questions, and not so top questions.

Top 5 Questions

What does Urban Meyer do with three VERY talented QB's?

I don't think there is a coach in the country who wouldn't want to have the problem Ohio State has heading into spring. Braxton Miller, J.T. Barret, and Cardale Jones all return. Miller was a Heisman favorite heading into 2014..... So what does Ohio State have now? Three Heisman contenders heading into 2015? The answer for Urban Meyer is actually fairly simple. He really can't go wrong with his pick to lead the offense in 2015. He could start any of the three. If things start to go south with one of them, well.... just plug in the next guy. It worked last season, right?
Will Michigan make some noise in 2015 with Jim Harbaugh?

This question, in some ways, has already been answered. Michigan hit it out of the park with hiring Harbaugh. The next few seasons will decide if that was just a home-run or a grand-slam. Recruits are already taking notice. This season we will see a very energized Michigan team, something that we haven't seen there in over a decade. Now, that may not translate into a big season in 2015 for the Wolverines, but Michigan will be a different team, no doubt. The Wolverines could be team that could very well spoil some other teams' season.

Who will be the next QB at Florida State?

This is somewhat uncharted territory for FSU and its fans. Since Fisher took over, there really hasn't been many questions about the QB position. It was clear the EJ Manuel would be the guy after Christian Ponder, and it was pretty clear that Jameis Winston would be the guy after Manuel gradutated. This will be a true QB battle in Tallahassee, and it may even be a battle that lasts into the start of the 2015 season. Sean Maguire saw some playing time in 2014. He leads the way in experience anyway. Maguire will battle redshirt freshman J.J. Cosentino, and early enrollee De'Andre Johnson. Incoming Deondre Francois won't get into the mix until summer. This is a question that I feel pretty strongly that an answer won't come until a couple weeks before the season, at the earliest. That is, of course, unless there is an amazing performance in the spring game.
Will Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns turn the corner in 2015?

Charlie Strong has been in place long enough that the results on the field should start to show. Coach Strong has been very busy weeding out the bad within the program and it has been a long process. Now with a couple recruiting cycles in the books, somebody has to step up at the QB position. Strong has to get this team back to being the best team in the state of Texas. As it stands, TCU and Baylor have capitalized on the Longhorns being down in the Big 12, not to mention Texas A&M starting to make its presence known on the recruiting trail. Plenty of questions remain heading into spring. Will they turn the corner in 2015? That remains to be seen at this point. For now, Charlie Strong needs to continue to do what he is doing on the recruiting trail and in the locker room. The wins will come. After all, Texas can't stay down for long, right?
Who wins the SEC East?

While this isn't about one particular team, it's still an interesting question to debate. 2014 was a disaster for the SEC East. Georgia was the best team but missed their chance to play in the SEC Title game because of very inconsistent play against their rivals. Tennessee could be in the mix. The Vols deserve a serious look when trying to decide on the best team in the SEC East. Surely Missouri can't win the SEC East for a third consecutive season? Georgia has to replace their QB, again, but they have weapons around him. Florida is a question mark at this point with McElwain entering his first spring has the head coach of the Gators. South Carolina is a mess. It's safe to say that the SEC East is wide open. Georgia and Tennessee should be the frontrunners heading into 2015, though.
Non Top 5 Questions

Does Nick Saban like Coca-Cola or Pepsi?

This is actually a very interesting question. We have all seen his press conferences, right? We all see the bottle of Coke sitting there, unopened..... untouched. So, is it because he prefers Pepsi? I get the whole sponsorship with Coke, but with most programs we usually see the coach drinking whatever is set in front of them. Maybe the bigger question is whether or not Nick Saban can handle the caffeine. It may be that he can't do the caffeine because he is so worked up all the time. We have all seen his rants when a media member asks the "wrong" question. Maybe it's not a bad idea for him to stay away from the caffeine.
How is Urban Meyer's health holding up?

It wasn't that long ago that Urban Meyer was stepping down at Florida due to "health concerns", but his health seems to be doing pretty good right now, right? Of course, that may have something to do with a National Championship season. This may be a question that we have to revisit when Ohio State has a mediocre season and doesn't have three great QB's on roster.
Is Bobby Petrino in the market for a new ride?

It's been a few years since Petrino's last "ride", right? Well, maybe he's been out on his motorcycle since then, but then again, that wasn't the last "ride" I was referring to. I haven't seen or heard any stories of whether or not he is rocking a new ride or not. If not, though, I think Louisville is paying him enough, maybe he can make that purchase (or hire) this summer.

Will Charlie Weis pop up somewhere?

Charlie Weis was fired from Kansas in 2014. Surely, this will be his last head coaching gig at the college level, right? I mean really, there can't be another program out there willing to put their fan base through a Charlie Weis era. For now, that seems to be true. Charlie Weis has said that he really doesn't see himself coaching anymore, college or pro level. However, I think we could see him at the pro level as a coordinator. Really I think he just needs a season or two off, or maybe the right job needs to come along. I just hope we don't see him at the college level ever again.

When will the Playoff expand?

Really, stop asking. And just stop demanding it to change. It's been one season, and the end result was exactly what we all asked for. The best four teams were in and the best team won it all. Four teams is going to be all we see for at least the next five seasons (most likely longer than that). The only part of the current system that I would change is the process in which how we get to those final four teams. Releasing weekly updates and explanations as to why teams rank where they do is just incredibly frustrating. That process is what led to the controversial final three weeks of the rankings. Change that entertainment driven aspect, and I think we have a pretty solid playoff system in place, for now, anyway.
